There are many exciting initiatives happening in and around the Netherlands regarding sustainable food practices, and we bring you the news through events, excursions, and exciting edge-of-your-seat discussions. If all of this sounds interesting, and you are someone who grows food, eats food, or thinks about food, then you should consider joining us at the Boerengroep breaks. What is a break? Every other week on Thursday we (the so-called Boerengroepies) meet in a casual setting to express our deepest desires for the future of humanity, farming, and other topics that evoke a large range of emotions.
Do you want to join the board and/or one of our working groups, but you’re not sure how? Or perhaps you just want to get a drink and catch up?
Then join the Break!

There are many paths in life that can lead a person to meet Boerengroep and Inspringtheater – what matters the most is that you have arrived here. Whether you are new to Wageningen, or simply new to Boerengroep, you are probably aware of the importance of building healthy and resilient food systems for the future. Boerengroep (or Peasant Foundation in English) is a critical student organization that aims to connect farmers with students and researchers. In other words, we are here to democratize the transfer of knowledge between growers, eaters, and thinkers (the three are not mutually exclusive). Inspringtheater is our sister foundation, that aims to tackle deep conversations through theater techniques, such as forum theater.

Every first and third week of the month occurs in the evening a jolly meet-up held in Wageningen’s Beer Café and Brewery “Onder de Linden’’, where we shelter from the cold inside this lovely woody bar.
The Break allows you to meet new people, have good talks and most of all good laughs. Because the Breaks are above all gezellig: laid-back, quasi serious, all topics allowed, with amazing local beer. With special editions, like the Sinterklaas-edition, as extra teasers! And also, no obligations to join a board, or to join each of the next Breaks, if you were wondering.
So come meet us in this lovely bar that is amongst the oldest of the Netherlands. Its brewery warehouse used to host sheep, when it was still a sheepfold. We, farm lovers, like to imagine the heather still there around, as we sip our beers. Every first and third week of the month at 20:00 in Café Onder de Linden, for all old and new faces!
