6 van 14 afleveringenHow can we relearn what we view as nature and as agriculture? Our guest in this episode is Malika Cieremans, whois a dutch pioneer in the field of food forests. She has started more than 25 years ago, before 'food forest' was even a word in the dutch language. She has her own piece of land in the forest close to Bennekom and she works with education, design, knowledge and development of food forests in the Netherlands since 10 years. In this episode we talk about our relationship to forests whilst placing them in an international context, the importance and variety of food forests and the arbitrary line between nature and agriculture that has become so powerful in legislation.Host of this podcast: Matti. In this episode, we talk with Marita Canedo and Will Lambek from the NGO Migrant Justice. This organisation, based in the US, organizes for economic justice and human rights with immigrant farmworkers in the region's dairy industry. Currently, Migrant Justice runs a campaign focused on improving conditions for dairy workers who supply U.S. supermarkets owned by the Dutch company Ahold Delhaize. Recently, Marita and Will were in the Netherlands to attend the shareholders meeting of Ahold Delhaize and we recorded a podcast with them!Boerengroep:https://www.boerengroep.nl/FB: https://www.facebook.com/BoerengroepwageningenIG: instaboerengroephttps://nl.linkedin.com/company/boerengroepemail: st.boerengroep@wur.nlAny questions or comments? This episode is the second part of our conversation with Margreet van der Burg about the history of women in dutch agriculture throughout the 20th century. Margreet is a historian who is specialized in gender studies related to agriculture, and she works as a teacher and researcher at the Wageningen university. In this episode we continue talking about the segregated agricultural education system, the low percentage of female-owned farms in the Netherlands and the present context of rural women.Disclaimer: we will be talking in quite a binary way, when discussing the differences between activities, norms and rights for men and women in the agricultural sector. As a non-binary person myself, I would like to add a few words here to acknowledge the fluidity of gender and the realities in the past and the present of genderqueer people on the farmland. This summer, Jes, usually our editor, found himself at a special place in the midst of the old cork oak forests of Sintra in Portugal. In these forests, a permaculture design school resides. The school is called Terra Alta and was founded by Pedro Valdjiu. Jes got the chance to interview him, talking about his journey towards permaculture, his musical career, the role of art in permaculture and the importance of having a community supporting you. In the second part, Jes speaks with Jenny Ready. She is the co-host & teacher of Terra Alta and an artist, soon releasing her debut EP. Jenny explains how she got involved with Terra Alta, how she became a certified permaculture teacher and the influence permaculture has had on her life as an artist. Make sure to stick to the end to hear the stories of both our guests & enjoy the episode! [The recording of this episode wasn't planned beforehand, therefore the audio quality is not the best, our apologies for this. However we think that the lovely stories of our guests compensate for this.] Boerengroep: https://www.facebook.com/Boerengroepwageningen/?locale=nl_NL https://www.instagram.com/instaboerengroep/?hl=nl Terra Alta https://www.terralta.org/ Jenny ~ Jennifer Lourea https://www.instagram.com/jennifer.lourea/?hl=nl Pedro Valdjiu https://www.instagram.com/pedrovaldjiu/ Special thanks to Dave Zammit for helping with the audio and video: https://www.instagram.com/dave.zammit/
